IDD #1: Signs and Symptoms of Mental Illness for Individuals with IDD

This presentation includes information regarding signs and symptoms of depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, personality disorders and psychosis. The presentation highlights the importance of observation of presentation of behavioral equivalents in people with IDD.

IDD #2: Comprehensive Assessment Planning

This presentation includes content related to the components and importance of an Integrative Model for Assessment. The presentation will discuss utilizing a bio-psycho-social framework as well as functional assessment of behavior and diagnostic practices for comprehensive assessment planning.

IDD #3: Collaborating Across Other Systems

This presentation will discuss the ways in which limited collaboration between Mental Health and IDD systems often results in barriers to care. To help support collaboration with EASA/IDD to minimize these barriers, a framework to support cross-system collaboration and service planning recommendations will be discussed to support community collaboration and teamwork.

IDD #4: Adapting Therapy Practices

This presentation will introduce concepts to support therapy adaption for individuals with IDD and Mental Illness, guidelines to consider during therapy as well as describe therapeutic models of care for IDD/ MI services.

IDD #5: Trauma-Informed Support/Crisis Prevention

This presentation will discuss why individuals with IDD/MI are more likely to experience conditions that lead to a crisis or are inherent risks for developing trauma-related disorders. Also discussed will be how unmet health needs substantially contribute to this vulnerability. Together we will explore methods for adapting trauma treatment and identify safe, effective crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
