Kate Hardy, Clin.Psy.D., April 20, 2018. This webinar recording is designed for intermediate level CBT clinicians and aimed at building on an existing knowledge-base through examination of different formulation techniques including collaborative development of formulation and team-based formulation. Clinicians were encouraged to submit de-identified case examples prior to the workshop for discussion during the webinar. Formulation is considered the cornerstone of CBT and is essential to helping the client, and therapist, understand the origin, and maintenance of their symptoms. In addition, formulation goes beyond understanding and informs effective interventions based on a thorough understanding of the client’s presenting problems. This formulation based approach is potentially even more critical when working with psychosis where symptoms, and associated behaviors, are often misunderstood, mislabeled, and mistreated.
